STEVE OVENDEN
First cutting his teeth on 8mm films in high school, Stephen Ovenden has been involved in both shooting and editing for over 25 years. He majored in music at Loyola University in New Orleans then advertising at University of Florida. As a drummer, he moved to NYC in 1985 and spend 10 years in the music scene where he also found a niche shooting bands and trying his hand at music videos..
Over the years he has worked in various aspects of the video
industry. Was the professional equipment rental manager at Steadi
Systems NYC from 1997-2000. Left to shoot and edit in 2000 forming
Affinity Studios in Soho with Mark Hammond. As one of the first
Final Cut Pro studios
in NY he had a diverse range of clientèle and was one of the original
members of the NYCFCP user group. Also worked in technical departments
with various theater projects at the Public Theater, Actors Playhouse and
Theater for the New City. |

Stephen has done work for A&E, Bravo, Sony, NHK, The Conference
Board, Pfizer, designers Anna Sui, Keanan Duffty and many others.
Some independent film projects include the features Godass (Showtime)
and Exist with Esther Bell, Leavetaking, Butterfield, Furious Bird
and other projects with Mark Hammond, Driving Fish with Red Wall
productions, Apartment 5C for Canal+ among many others. His short
Amnesia was a finalist in the 2000 AFI festival in the experimental
short category.
Most recently he finished editing and onlining the Russian language documentary Miss Gulag which debuted at the 2007 Berlin film festival (see www.missgulag.com for more details). Besides running the post department for Soho Films and handling the MOVIEtube product line in North America, Stephen is active in the development of new feature projects.
